Rock Choir to sing in Haworth Church

The Rock Choir in full voice.

The Friends of the Brontës’ Church is proud to announce that they are joining with the Rock Choir to stage a concert in Haworth Parish Church on Friday, November 9th.

Formed five years ago as the support group for Haworth Parish Church, the Friends were impressed by the performance style of the Rock Choir when they sang at a wedding in Church during August.

It was a wedding of two Church members and the bride is a member of the Rock Choir.

Talks about staging a concert by the choir in Haworth Church started very soon after the wedding and it has now been confirmed that the Rock Choir will stage a one-hour performance in Church.

Any profit made by the concert will be going to the Haworth Parish Church’s Restoration Fund.

Peter Breed, the chairman of the Friends of the Brontës’ Church, said: “Haworth Church has hosted many choral groups during the past few years but the Rock Choir will be something different.

“When they sang in Church at the wedding they impressed so many people so we’re looking forward to their concert next month.

“It promises to be a very special event and something completely different from our normal choral offerings.”

Rebecca Frodsham, the Rock Choir’s conductor and director, added: “We were delighted to be approached by the Friends of the Brontës’ Church and are looking forward to singing in the Church where there are so many connections with literature and the Brontë family.”

The concert will start at 7.30pm and tickets will cost £5 plus £1 postage and packing. You can buy them by e-mailing or calling: 07775 762890. Alternately you can pay at the door. Please be aware that the number of tickets available is governed by the Church fire safety. Members of the  Church can buy their tickets by contacting either John Huxley or Churchwarden Peter Breed.
