..Haworth Parish Church’s attraction as a performance venue to choirs from around the United Kingdom has been reinforced by Watership Cantabile who will stage a concert at the Church on Saturday, June 2nd.
Watership Cantabile, with their Musical Director, Michael Howell, are a mixed-voice choir from Newbury, Berkshire who sing a wide variety of music from all over the world.
They originally came together about 40 years ago. They perform many concerts in Newbury and the surrounding areas and are well known to audiences in throughout their district. In the past they have taken part in several festivals and competitions in Europe.
Each year they draw up a new repertoire of music, based on a theme. This year’s theme is based on ‘Travel’, and includes music covering several centuries and locations.
During 2018, in addition to their normal programme of concert and festival events, they are undertaking a short trip to Yorkshire and will be singing in Wakefield Cathedral as well as two Parish churches.
They are delighted with the opportunity to present their selection of music for this year in one of those parish churches, St Michael and all Angels, Haworth.
A spokesman for the choir said: “We are very grateful to the Rector and all the team for their help in staging this concert.”
Watership Cantabile’s concert starts at 7.00pm on Saturday, June 2nd and there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Haworth Church Restoration Fund.
Rev. Peter Mullins, the Rector at Haworth Parish Church, said: “It is a privilege for Haworth that high quality groups like this simply offer to come and perform in our churches and we look forward to welcoming a good crowd to appreciate them.”
