Donation Guide

Haworth Parish Church has a five-year Restoration and Improvement Plan. So far it has completed the restoration of the both the building’s  north and south-facing roofs at a cost of almost £650,000. Now the Church is reflecting on the success of its roof repair programme and considering which way God wishes us to take the project.

We are aware that within a short space of time we will face a major re-wiring situation and that work will have to be undertaken before we can consider a much-needed internal redecoration.

Also we have long harboured the ambition of restoring the wall paintings. These have long since disappeared below a layer of grime and their reappearance would greatly enhance the spiritual experience of being in Haworth Church.

At the same time it costs in the order of £1,000 per week to do keep the Church building maintained and open: we don’t receive any aid from either the Church of England or the Government so we have to raise every penny ourselves.

Heating and lighting a church that is open to everybody 365 days a year is a costly business while we also have keep it clean enough for it to serve both our community and visitors.

The congregation makes a massive contribution with its regular giving; we stage fund-raising events like Christmas and Spring Fayres and the Friends of the Brontes’ Church runs a sales stall as well as staging concerts to further boost funds. We are also asking the visitors to the Church to help us in this massive task by making donations via the safes which are dotted about the Church building.

You too can help by simply going to this web site’s Donation Button and make a donation via PayPal.

Or, you can send a cheque or Postal Order made out to ‘Haworth Parish Church, c/o The Treasurer, 19 Branwell Drive, Haworth, Keighley, West Yorkshire BD22 8HG. We very much regret that we do not have card payment facilities and should you require an acknowledgement of your donation it would be very helpful if you could send The Treasurer a Stamped Addressed Envelope. This will enable more of the Church’s funds to be directed at keeping this wonderful Church alive and well as well as its building clean, safe and warm
