St Michael’s isn’t quite ready to begin opening up yet.
The Government has said churches can be open for private prayer from Monday 15June (later changed to Saturday 13 June). But it says we cannot do so for tourists. And we don’t have the capacity to do the frequent deep clean needed to keep people safe. So at the moment we simply shouldn’t go back to leaving this church open all day. Sorry.
Next Sunday (21 June) we would hope to set the clock and chimes going again soon after 11.00 a.m. We would also hope to announce then opportunities for private prayer in our churches at set times in that week.
Meanwhile, we are working hard at the things we are told we need to do before opening: writing the risk assessments; decanting the hand sanitiser; arranging cleaning and supervision rotas. So please bear with us this week.
