David Root. The main feeling at St Michael’s is that we are deeply sad at the news of David’s death. He was a much loved and generous local musician, our church organist for over twenty years (and most recently at St James’, Cross Roads as well) and a key person in everything from the local Gilbert & Sullivan Society to the Haworth Band.
Update. David’s funeral is now planned for 1.00 on Tuesday 20 July. The family’s Facebook message is that (although we don’t yet have definite guidance on the lifting of Covid restrictions the previous the day – our present risk assessed limit is family and about 50 others) people are likely to be encouraged to keep numbers to a safe level and wear masks anyway.
Open for worship. We continue to meet on Sunday at 11.00 a.m. (and at 9.30 a.m. at both St Gabriel’s, Stanbury and St James’, Cross Roads) with mask-wearing, distance-keeping and non-singing restrictions still legally in place for Sundays 10 and 17 June. Mid-week Communion continues at 9.30 a.m. each Wednesday at St James’, Cross Roads. The Breathing Space quite refection group next meets at 7.00 p.m. on Monday 12 June at St Gabriel’s, Stanbury. The next All Age Worship is at 11.00 a.m. on Sunday 1 August at St Michael’s.
Open for tourists. We remain hugely grateful to the Friends’ of the Bronte Church for stewarding the opening of St Michael’s 12.00 noon to 3.30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
Update. The funeral at 1.00 on Tuesday 20 July will severely limit the opening previusly planned doe that day.
Worship on-line. Our weekly videos have had to come to an end as we don’t have the capacity to produce them well at the moment, but many old ones are still available to view immediately below this post. West Lane Baptist Church and St Mary’s, Oxenhope are among churches live streaming their Sunday worship on their Facebook pages, and those who sample these are welcome to feed back to us if something like this might be useful from us as well.
After 19 July. We await the detailed Government guidance (which always lags a little behind public announcements) and will then have to think, pray and consult carefully about what is desirable, safe and practical.
