Praise and Pets in the Park!

Churches Together in Haworth staged a double celebration in Haworth Central Park on Sunday.

The body in which the Christian Churches in Haworth combine to provide events and services, ran an open-air service in the park celebrating harvest time and giving a blessing to pets!

Following a 20-minute brass band concert from a group of locally based musicians and a song set from our Rector Oli Preston, there was a Harvest Festival service called ‘Praise in the Park’ led by Rev. David Skeet, the Minister from West Lane Baptist Church and the Rev. Oli.

The brass band provided the musical accompaniment to the hymns which were sung by a congregation made up of members of the various Christian churches in Haworth and members of the public who joined in while visiting the Park.

Rev. Preston then gathered together all the people who were accompanied by their pets – all dogs – and delivered a blessing. He said: “Pets are an integral part of many families lives and it’s great to recognise their contribution to the lives of the people in Haworth.”

Bolton-based photographer Phil Taylor was on hand to capture the moment for posterity and provide a record of the latest Churches Together venture in Haworth. And we are grateful to Phil for permission to use his images with this offering.
